Sir John Harvey-Jones

Biography

Sir John Harvey-Jones We were greatly encouraged to receive a strong message of support from Sir John Harvey-Jones, MBE, before his death. For three years running, Sir John was voted Britain's Most Impressive Industrialist by his peers. He was Britain’s best-known and most-admired industrialist and his achievements at ICI are legendary. Sir John was also the Chancellor of Bradford University, a Vice President of the Royal Society of Arts, Vice Chairman of the Policy Studies Institute and the Institute of Marketing, and a Trustee of the Science Museum. He sat on the Boards of a number of companies. He was probably best known for his two BBC Television Series Troubleshooter filmed in 1986, and in 1990. The series won a BAFTA Special Award for Originality. He was the author of "Making It Happen, Reflections on Leadership". Ten years on from the first Troubleshooter series he made a follow up series of Troubleshooter with the BBC. He was one of the true Captains of British Industry.
