Introduction | FAQ | National Policy Committee Richard Nicholas
Biography
Richard grew up on his family's farm in the weald of Kent, attending a local prep school before leaving to attend boarding school in the comparative urban jungle of Canterbury. It was during this period that Richard pursued his interest in the Art and Fashion industries that led him to pursue courses in design at both Canterbury and Cheltenham Art Schools. A year living predominantly in Melbourne followed and on his return Richard went to work for the American Clothing giant Polo Ralph Lauren in London's New Bond Street for the next six years. During this time Richard bought a property in London's East End. This sparked an interest in the property industry, particularly brown-field sites, and five years ago took the the plunge to become a director of Pilton Group Ltd, a development company specialising in retail and residential redevelopment around the country. Richard currently lives in Westminster.
Reasons for Supporting the New Party
I have long been politically aware and was brought up to believe that voting is not merely a right but a responsibility that we all share. Traditionally, and arguably historically, a Conservative voter, I have for at least the last eight years felt unrepresented by any of our previous political parties. I wish to see an end to voter apathy in particular and also see a return of people in politics that have an understanding of the real world.
